Do This And Your List Will Make You Money Online-And Lots Of It!

So assuming you have built your list of targeted prospects - all interested in investing their time into reading your free information and possibly checking out what other services you have to offer – how are you supposed to actually profit from your list? That’s basically what we all want to know how to do, right?

“The money’s in the list.” I think I’ve heard that quote about a gazillion times! Not that I’m tired of hearing it, because it’s short and sweet, and really gets to the point. And what’s so powerful about that quote is that IT’S TRUE.

If the money’s in the list, how do I manage to squeeze it out and get a little bit of it myself? You want to know what to do next - like send free content... then the next message, mix in an ad, etc... basically how to profit from the list, right?

It's really quite simple. Help them profit.

Sounds cliché but it's true. Research your market, and spend some time learning everything you can about the 'passion' of your list. Then share that info w/ them. Don't ram it down their throats, but simply 'share' it with them.

That's how to profit from it.

Some people get it all wrong by sending some free content, and then the next email is a slimy pitch... that's not going to work. Honestly get involved w/ the topic and send them interesting stuff about it. Review some of the other products in your market, cite the pros and cons of buying into it... give your thoughts and then either recommend it or say stay away from it.

What makes me cringe is when I get some email offers from newbies or others that just don't get it... they send these email pitches that reveal the fact that they don’t care at all about the well being or success of the person receiving it.

People can tell when they're being sold and when you're sending them an offer simply because it will make you money. They can smell it from a mile away and it immediately makes them put their guard up and not trust a word in your email.

Just treat them like a friend and share different bits of info and make recommendations as you come across them. Send your list valuable, quality information. Slip in an ad on occasion and track the results. You’ll always get the “un-subscribers”, but don’t fret it. Those worried about losing subscribers shouldn't. Keep building relationships with the subscribers that you still have.
There's lots of ways to approach it, I'm just trying to help you with the mindset portion of it, because there really isn't a formula to follow. Some people are looking for the formula, like... send 3 content messages, then 1 pitch... wait 2 days then send another pitch followed by 3 all content messages, blah blah blah... And you'll never have success like that.

One of the points I want to make is that there are many e-books and other sources that talk about how to build the list and the importance of the list but very few that continue give you a proven formula that works every time.

The closest I’ve gotten to finding that formula is by simply following the idea of “Helping them profit will help me profit.” Respect your subscribers and they will return the favor – guaranteed.

Just simply share your research and knowledge with your list and only recommend top-notch goods and services that you've personally checked out and that you honestly believe will help your prospect.

Do that and your list will make you money…and Lots of It!

Search engine optimization is getting more and more difficult by the day. The search engines are evolving at an incredible speed, making it harder for SEOs to rank our websites highly.

With that said, there are a few tried and true principles that we need to do when optimizing our website. The first of which, and the one that I always tell people to concentrate on is getting quality, 1 way links pointing to your website.

The more quality links you can get pointing to your website, the higher you will rank, period.

While there are many black hat tricks and tactics that you can do for short term gain, I would suggest NOT spending your time on those things. I would focus my entire effort on figuring out how to get other websites to link to yours without you linking back to them. That is the biggest key to ranking well in Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Doing this is easier said that done. One of the easiest known ways to get quality, one way links is by finding website directories and then submitting your website to them. This can be a very tedious process, but always a very rewarding process at the same time.

You can either submit your website to these directories manually, pay someone to do it for you, OR you can use one of the website directory submission programs out there. The best program for the money that we've found is a program called "Directory Submitter" created by internet marketing expert, Brad Callen.

This program allows you to submit your website to over 1600 website directories and can save you an incredible amount of time in doing so. You simply enter your website details into the software once, and then select the directory you would like to submit to. Utilizing the Secrets of Opt-in List Building

An opt-in list is a directory of email address you can send to those mails to. Though it seems to be easy to find email addresses, if you are talking thousands in numbers, it is going to be hard.

Besides, you have to determine the recipient of the email. You wouldn’t want your readers mostly male if you are selling lipsticks, right?

A good opt-in list should include the profile of the email address owner. Here are tips on how to create a comprehensive opt-in list for target market.

Create your website.
Creating a website is made simple nowadays. A lot of programs are milling about assisting regular computer users in making and maintaining websites in a real simple way. Some website creator just needs you to cut and paste, like that of a regular paint program. Several web hosting sites are available too. Some are even free. If you have a site of your own, you can ask visitors to register with you or sign your guest book as they leave.

Set up a promotion or a freebie.
Not all the best things in life are free, as they say. But you can definitely try to give something out for sure. You can see this done all over the web. Free screensavers, free games, free download of programs. And what do they need from you? They just ask for an email address, your name and a little something more about you. Then you can place a check box on the registration form for sending of email. For sure, you can think of something to give out as well.

Write and write some more.
There are some web magazines where in readers can submit their writings for a particular topic. If you had a chance to do so, add a link to your article providing information about what you are trying to promote. Some readers of your article may enjoy your work so much they’d like to contact you, so don’t forget to leave your email address too.

Pose an easy opt-out option.
People who like to join your opt-in list would, along the way may want to opt out of it somehow. People who are wary of joining may not join at all if they see that it would be near impossible to remove their email address from the listing. Show them that it is as easy to opt-out as it is opting in.

Check other’s strategy too.
It would be better if you can find a partner in generating an opt-in list. This way, you can split the expenses and both of you can share the list generated. It will be best to partner with a company that has a business similar to your own line. Both of you can profit more should that be the case.

Use offline ways too.
You can put up a small raffle preferably in a supermarket for a certain item they buy. You can place an email address opt-in part in the raffle entry to add to your list. This way, you’d also know the buying preferences of the participants if you mark the entries systemically.

People appearing onopt-in lists are sales prospects. They are those interested in a certain product that you may be selling. Obtaining an optimal opt-in list would boost your sales up so these tools are undoubtedly essential.

With an opt-in mail list, the mails you send containing your promotional materials such as newsletters, catalogs and marketing media will go through. You don't have to be a big corporation to make use of an opt-in list. If your customers see you as someone who knows what he is doing and saying, they will trust you quickly.

- Be true to your customers, if you want to hype up your products and services, provide guarantees.

Generally, people will trust someone they know, when that someone recommends you then you're a shoo-in. They will go to your site and check it for themselves and be given a chance to experience what the other shave experienced from you, so make sure to be consistent in the service you provide.

Then there should be an area where they could put in their names and e-mail address. This web form will automatically save and send you the data's inputted.

As more people sign in, your list will be growing.

2) As mentioned in the first tip, make your homepage very, very impressive. You need to have well written articles and descriptions of your site. Depending on what your site is all about, you need to capture your website visitor's fancy. Make your site useful and very easy to use. Do not expect everyone to be tech savvy. Invest in having good programming in your site, make your graphics beautiful but don't over do it.

Don't waste your time making the homepage too overly large megabyte wise. Not all people have dedicated T1 connections, the faster your site gets loaded, the better. Go for a look that borders between simplicity and sophisticated knowledge.

3) Provide good service and products. A return customer is more likely to bring in more business. Even then and now, a satisfied customer will recommend a business always. Word of mouth and recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad. As your clientele roster grows so shall your list. With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have new to offer.

4) Keep a clean and private list. Never lose the trust your customers have entrusted you. If you provide e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe to you.

Remember, a good reputation will drive in more traffic and subscribers as well as strengthen the loyalty of your customers.

When you decide to have an opt-in list, it is not just a matter of sending your subscribers your promotional newsletters or catalogs.

There are many things to consider in avoiding many complications. While there are so many ways you can make people subscribe to your list, there are also some things you must do to avoid subscribers from wanting to get off from your list.

Aside from that, you also want to avoid any problems with the law and your internet service provider or ISP. There are now many laws and rules that are applied to help protect the privacy of the internet users from spamming and unwanted mails. With the popularity of the electronic mail as a medium for marketing because of the low cost, many company's have seized the opportunity and have flooded many people's e-mail accounts with promotional mail.

But, with an opt-in list, you avoid this annoyance because people subscribe to the list; they want to receive the newsletters and promotional materials. They have consented to being on the list by subscribing themselves, just don't forget to put an unsubscribe feature everytime in your opt-in list so that you avoid any confusion. There may be times when an email account was provided when the real owner didn't want to subscribe.

1) Take notice of your unsuccessful sends. These are the e-mails that bounce. Bounced emails, also known as undeliverable messages, are those messages that, for whatever reason, were not successfully received by the intended recipient.

There are bounces that happen or occur because the server was busy at that time but can still be delivered in another time. There are also bounces because the inbox of the recipient is full at that time. There are those bounce messages that are simply undeliverable ever. The reason for this is that it may be an invalid email address, a misspelled email address, or an email address that was abandoned and erased already.

Manage your list by putting markings on those that bounce. Erase an email account from your list so that you have an accurate statistics and records as to how many are actually receiving your mail. You may also want to check the spellings of your email addresses in your list. One common mistake is when an N instead of an M is placed in the .com area.

2) Always provide an unsubscribe feature in your site and an unsubscribe link in your mails. When someone in your list files a request to be unsubscribed, always take that request seriously. If you don't take them off your list and keep sending them your e-mails, you are now sending them spam mail.

When you are reported as a spammer, you and your business can get into a lot of trouble. You can be reported to the authorities and maybe blacklisted by many internet service providers. You will lose a lot of subscribers this way and many more in potential subscribers.

3) Do not provide pornographic or shocking and disturbing content in your newsletters. It is hard to decipher the age of the recipient and many complaints may stem from these. Controversial issues also are to be avoided to not be branded by your subscribers. Stick to the nature of your site and business.

Always remember these tips in this article so that you can have a healthy relationship with your subscribers as well as be kept within the boundaries of what is allowed in sending mails to an opt-in list.

You finally realize that you need a good opt-in list. After reading countless articles and sought expert advices and have read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists you finally decide to have one of your own. Then it happens, you think you have known everything there is to know about opt-in lists and have followed their advices to the T and you still weren't able to make a profit.

In fact, you may be losing money. You maybe hiring writers to help you out, or there are some expenses incurred, even if you have a big list, but only a very small percentage actually buys from you, your still losing profit. You'll realize that after a few months when you see your statistics and sales figures.

So what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded where you have failed? The most common mistake is that you dived straight right in. You chose a topic where you think could be quite popular and would earn you money. This just not the case. Just because you wrote people from the list doesn't mean they are going to buy instantly.

Here I will offer more advice, for those who have started an opt-in list and have failed, you can rejuvenate your failed venture. For those who are starting, here are three quick and easy ways to build a profitable opt-in list.

1) Get your customers to trust you and your products first. Just launching your opt-in list would not make you an expert and a believable seller. Put many articles first before you start an opt-in list. Write about the topic you know and have started and used for your site. Try to put forums first to gain knowledge about your customers about their wants and needs and target those wants and needs.

Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advices and recommendations. When you feel that people trust you already, you will be able to start your own opt-in list. You can build a base as well with other forum users. You can ask them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your site so that they may be able to see what you're business is all about.

The certain truth is, the money will only come in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. They want a product or service that could be a good exchange for their money. People are not going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don't know you.

2) Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have researched and learned about well, you can carry it on forward. Invest your time, effort and money that you could sell as well as the buyers or subscribers of your opt-in list can use.

While it is true that it is best to sell something that you have interest in, there are not many people who have the same interest as you if you decide to sell something that is not entirely popular or profitable. Do your research well and you would see the profits come in. Also provide your subscribers with promotional material that they could actually use and spread around.

3) Make friends with other opt-in list users. This is basically beneficial especially if it is someone who has already launched a successful opt-in list. These are people that have the experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. While there are many articles available for you in the internet to use, there is nothing like getting a first hand account from someone you trust.

Experienced opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. While different situations occur for different people, the general concept can still be very helpful. There are many things to avoid and these people will be able to tell you which ones.

Building a profitable opt-in list don't just happen overnight. There are many preparations and effort to do. Opt-in lists are built from scratch, as your list grows, you should also maintain the quality of your list. Keep it organized and manageable. How To Get Your Subscribers Begging For More

Just as an experiment, a friend of mine subscribe to ten different opt-in e-mail marketing lists to see which ones are effective. Many websites and online businesses have resorted to sending promotional materials to people who have subscribed to them in an effort to boost their sales or traffic. Opt-in email marketing sends newsletters, catalogs updates and many more promotional materials to website visitors who have agreed to be updated whether monthly, weekly or semiannually.

Through e-mail, an internet user that is on the list will receive their updates through email. If a promotional material piques their interest they will go to the site to learn more or to purchase outright. For the website operators or owners, this is a chance to remind their list of their existence and parlor their wares. With the numerous sites in the internet that offers the same products or services in one way or the other, the competition can get pretty tight and it is easy to be forgotten.

Back to my experimenting friend, he tried to find out which opt-in marketing strategies grabbed a person into begging for more. Some would send in very simple fashion, some would very outlandish while there are some that would just lie in between. The differences could easily be noticed and some have gotten the idea of an effective opt-in marketing strategy. He dubbed them effective because he felt like he just couldn’t wait to go their site and learn more, the more persuasive ones even got him halfway to reaching for his wallet and to his credit card before he realized this was only for an experiment.

Many companies and site present their promotional materials in a wide variety of concepts. Each has their own distinctive style and designs, but more than the outline and the presentation, the content and the articles are what keeps the attention of your potential customer locked on to your opt-in marketing medium. Creativity is the key here.

From talking to many satisfied opt-in list subscribers and forums, I have learned of what is essential in opt-in marketing and what makes the subscribers begging for more instead of lining up to unsubscribe.

Keep your promotional materials light, creative and original. Many people are stressed out as it is. Getting a stuffy business proposal rather than a light hearted e-mail may just agitate them more. A warm friendly smile or banter is always more welcome than a serious business meeting or proposal. While you do want your customers to take you and your products and services seriously, you also want to show them that you know how to have fun.

Splash some color in your emails as well as provide some photos and articles that can be related to you but show good news or good light hearted images as well. Provide a newsletter or promotional materials that will keep them in a light mood. Make your materials eye catching and grabbing that they wont be able to take their eyes of them. Pique their interests.

Have good content and article, even if it means investing in an experienced and professional copy writer to write them for you. An effective copy writer should be able to build trust between you and your customers. They should be able to establish your credibility in what they write. It must be informative but not too stuffy. Let go of the professional jargons and “talk“to your recipients.

A good article and content should be able to outline the benefits of your product and services and why they need what you are offering. But do not look to be overeager and too persuasive. It should be able to entertain as well as lead them to buying from you.

Your promotional materials should be clear. Don’t leave people guessing. You should lead them to you and not vice versa. Explain to them what they need to do in a manner that won’t be confusing. Try to anticipate also what your target client needs. Do your research and information gathering, many sites will be able to help you with that.

Provide clear and crisp images of what you are offering. If the people know what you have for them, they are more likely to beg for more. For example, if you are selling a car, provide them photos but only enough to encourage them to go to your site for more.

The Different Types Of Affiliate Marketing

If you haven't created your own product, then selling someone elses product is your additional primary step. Affiliate Marketing and Opt-in Email Marketing go hand and hand.

Affiliate marketing programs have never been as popular before as it is today. Why? There can be a number of reasons. The most probable reason, however, could be the fact that the benefits of affiliate marketing have become clearer to a lot of people now than they were before.

Today, both the merchants and the affiliates can see clearly that
affiliate marketing can work for both of them. The merchant sees
affiliate marketing today as the chance to advertise their products
at a lower cost. The affiliates, on the other hand, sees affiliate
marketing as an easy way of earning profits online by doing what
they like most, and that is by creating websites.

Just as the popularity of affiliate marketing has shifted into
greater heights, so has the people's outlook about it changed. No
longer is affiliate marketing considered today as an alternative
method for the merchant to advertise his products, or as a source
of additional income for the affiliates. For merchants and
affiliates alike, affiliate marketing is now considered as a main
source of profits and revenues.

So the question now is what type of affiliate marketing will work
best for you? Are all affiliate marketing programs the same? Are
the benefits the same? Or are there affiliate marketing programs
that work better than the others?

There are actually different types or classes of affiliate
marketing, and the number of types will depend on how one will
classify them. The most basic affiliate marketing programs,
however, falls under two categories:

pay-per-click (PPC), and
pay-per-performance (PPP).

- Pay Per Click (PPC)

PPC is the most popular type of affiliate marketing for affiliates with small websites, and probably the easiest way for them to earn money. In this affiliate marketing type, the merchant pays his affiliate whenever a visitor is referred to his site, that is whenever someone clicks through the merchant's banner or text ads. The affiliate gets paid a certain amount even if the visitor he referred does not purchase anything from the merchant's site. However, typical fees for PPC affiliate programs are small, usually not exceeding a dollar for every click.

- Pay Per Performance (PPP)

PPP affiliate marketing is the most popular among merchant and is also the most lucrative type for the affiliates. In this type of affiliate program, the merchant only pays the affiliate whenever his referral translates into an action--that is whenever the visitor he has referred actually buys something from the merchant's site or when the visitor becomes a lead. This means a lot of savings for the merchant. On the other hand, it becomes the most lucrative type for the dedicated affiliate, for commissions in PPP affiliate marketing usually comes in the range of 15% to 20% of the actual product sales.

Pay-per-performance affiliate marketing can be further classified
into two popular types: pay-per-sales (PPS) and pay-per-lead (PPL).

o Pay Per Sale (PPS)

In a pay-per-sale type of affiliate marketing, the merchants pay
the affiliate a certain fee whenever the visitor he has referred to
the merchant's site actually buys something from the merchant's
site. Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although
other merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee. But no matter what
the basis of the fee is, it is generally higher than the fee paid
to affiliates in a pay-per-click affiliate program.

o Pay Per Lead (PPL)

The pay-per-lead type of affiliate marketing is a slight variation of the PPS type and is often used by insurance and finance companies and other companies who rely on leads for their company to grow. In this type of affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever the visitor he referred to the merchant's site fills up an application form or any similar form related to the business of the company. Compensation for this type of affiliate marketing is based on a fixed fee whose rates approximate that of the fixed fee in the PPS type.

Aside from these three specific types of affiliate marketing, a lot of other affiliate marketing types exist. If the classification is based on the depth of the affiliate network, it can be classified
as single-tier, two-tier, and multi-tier affiliate marketing. There is also another type of affiliate marketing that pays the affiliate each time the customer he has referred purchases something from the merchant's site.

- Single-Tier, Two-Tier, and Multi-Tier Affiliate Marketing

These types of affiliate marketing are based on the different
levels or tiers in the affiliate network by which payments are
made. In a single-tier affiliate marketing program, the affiliates
are only paid based on the direct sales or traffic he has referred
to the merchant. All the previously mentioned affiliate marketing
types (i.e. PPS<>- Residual Income Affiliate Marketing

In residual income affiliate marketing, the affiliate gets paid not
only once for every customer he has referred to the merchant's
site. Rather, the affiliate is also paid whenever the customer he
has referred returns to the site and purchase another product.
Compensation for such type of affiliate marketing is based on
either sales percentage commission or fixed fee basis.

The different affiliate marketing types would virtually work
differently for merchants and affiliates alike, and each would
generally have their own list of benefits. Which type of affiliate
marketing will work best for you? It is not really for me to tell.
Rather, it is for you to choose which type of affiliate marketing
program will suit your needs and characteristics best.

Internet Marketing Coaching – Are You Overwhelmed With Information?

Are you overwhelmed with information?

I know how it is. You want to get started online, and you buy an ebook for $100. And it tells you one good way to do things.

You start following the plan, and then you get a little stuck with something. So you go online searching for more information, and you find another ebook that claims to have a better way of doing it.

So you buy that one – another $100. You read it from cover to cover, and find that there are some similarities, but that many of the steps – the actual methods of getting the job done – are significantly different.

Now you are confused. Which to go with? You can’t really do both? Or maybe you just try to figure out which parts are best from each one and do like a hybrid of the two? The problem with that is you don’t have enough experience to know what to pick and choose.

So what do you do? Buy another book to solve the differences? Of course, that one will propose still another system.

Confusing, right?

I want to clear up some of the confusion.

First, there are many ways to become successful online. There are probably 100 different ways to route your list building campaign. There are probably over 100 different step by step ways you can use just to get started online – and then 100s or 1000s of options after that.

For example, imagine these are my steps:

1) Find a niche

2) Build a web site

3) Put a squeeze page on it

4) Get an autoresponder

5) Write an email campaign

6) Write an ebook

7) Send traffic to your site

Now, I could easily move them around, and get the same results:

1) Build a web site

2) Put a squeeze page on it

3) Find a profitable niche

4) Write an email campaign

5) Get an autoresponder

6) Send traffic to your site

7) Write an ebook

How many different combinations could I come up with, just moving 7 steps around? And really there are 30 or 40 steps when you get started. You can move those around in just about an infinite number of configurations. Is one better than the other? Maybe, maybe not. But the important thing is that you do all the steps.

Now, you may be thinking, well, what about each of those steps, different people tell me different ways to do it.

Of course there are different ways to do each step.

Think about the sending traffic step. How many different kinds of traffic are there? 100? 200? How many can any one person get good at? I am only good at one. Another expert is good at one or two. What do you think we are going to write about? The one we are good at. Mine works as well as his (and vice versa). But I am only an expert at one.

And that holds true for every other step in the process – there are multiple ways to do things – all of which work – but to make them work, you have to get good at ONE of them. Not all of them. Not dabble in each.

Not mix up all the things you learn in different books.

So here’s your homework for the weekend.

Go to your harddrive and find one of those books you bought that you tried and it wasn’t perfect.

You didn’t understand everything, or you got stuck. Or you thought there was a better way. Look, your way might be better, but if you aren’t making more money than the person that write the book – you might as well do it there way first!

Bu this time. Stick with it. Follow through. If you get stuck – work through it. So what if it takes you a whole week to learn something.

I remember when I first started I would spend an entire day or two trying to figure out how to do something I can do in 5 minutes now. But I had to go through it and work it out and do the hard work.

And some of that cannot be done in a book – you just have to do the work to figure it out.

we're all riding on, and it's pretty crowded!

Stop The Ride - I Want To Get Off!

So here's my advice on how to get off the
merry-go-round for good:

---> If you're buying every single thing that
comes out, STOP. You don't need EVERYTHING.

I was once told that a good entrepreneur "throws
his nickels around like they were manhole
covers," meaning that if they were that heavy,
you would think twice before picking one up to
spend it.

---> If you're overextending yourself by debting
too much to make your purchases, stop. You can
get in a lot of trouble like that, so don't
fool yourself (like I once did).

Debt can be a double-edged sword. It can work
for you, and it can work against you, but it's
shocking how quickly it can turn bad, so be
very careful with it.

---> If you're financially unstable, get stable
fast. Pick up some part-time work, cut out some
unnecessary expenses, sell some stuff and get
your financial affairs in order.

Filling the bucket faster doesn't plug the holes
in the bottom. Plug the holes first, so your
work is not wasted.

---> If you're unclear about your numbers, get
clarity. You can't be a successful internet
marketer if you are lost in vast vistas of
vagueness - you need absolute numerical clarity
about your numbers.

Driving while blindfolded may get you somewhere,
but probably not where you want to go... IF you
even survive. Need help? Ask a friend or join a
financial support group or debtors' recovery
program - whatever it takes.

---> And most importantly, you need your own
product and your own list. You've got to get
some lines in the water fast, so you can start
catching some fish.

Joe Vitale once said that "Money loves
speed," so getting a product and a list as
quick as possible is critically important.

That means that you should use all the leverage
you can to your advantage so you have a
head start.

I will share a shortcut that I'm using to do
just that in a minute, but first, I need you to
understand something.

Are You Saying I Shouldn't Buy Stuff Anymore?

No! I am NOT against buying things you need to

Hey - I sell stuff AND I buy stuff, so don't
misunderstand what I'm trying to say here.

===> Yes, you need education - proceeding into
the marketplace without it is like wandering
into a minefield without a map.

===> Sure, you need services - you can't be in
the game without an autoresponder, credit card
processing, etc.

===> Of course, you need to attend live events -
I wouldn't be where I am right now without them
and the wonderful people I've met.

But you don't need to bankrupt yourself and your
family to be successful - you just need to keep
the spending down and get the earning up.

Michael Cheney Talks Traffic - Interview With A Traffic Expert

In a never-ending search for good Opt-in Email Marketing information, I stumbled across an interview with internet marketer Michael Cheney on the very important subject of Traffic.

How does this relate to Opt-in Email Marketing?

Q. Firstly Michael, thank you for joining us today in your busy schedule.
A. Hey no problem. Good to be here.

Q. We all know that traffic is important but could you just explain a bit about traffic for the beginners out there?
A. Sure. Traffic is the lifeblood of any business online. Without it you just die. We all know that. But what a lot of us don't realize is that just like everything else on the Internet traffic changes very quickly. That is, the methods of getting traffic are changing all the time and that's where people get caught out.

Q. What do you mean by "caught out"?
A. Well people fall into the trap of thinking that just because they know one or two traffic generation methods that they are some sort of traffic master. In reality just because you know how to start a pay per click campaign or a little bit about search engines doesn't make you anywhere near a traffic expert. I'm trying to spread the word that there is a massive array of traffic tactics that most people aren't even aware of, let alone using or mastering.

Q. Can you give us some examples?
A. Sure. Offline for example. You might immediately think that getting traffic is a purely online activity but the truth of the matter is that there are lots of things you can be doing offline to get people into your website. And it's usually these sorts of areas that are being under-utilized and therefore there is less competition for that traffic as well.

Q. So by offline you mean advertising offline?
A. Not necessarily. That is one method, yes, but I'm thinking of more creative ways to get people into your website. It all comes down to the fact that having asked people on my list it came as no surprise that most people want to know about free rather than paid traffic sources. I've had to become an expert in free ways of getting traffic in my time online.

Q. What do you mean - I thought you were running a successful online business with lots of cash flow?
A. I am. But it's not always been this way. When I first started out in 1995 I had nothing. No money to play with. Just my own initiative and imagination.

Q. So are you saying you're against paying for traffic online?
A. No. No I'm not saying that at all. What I'm saying is that, especially when you first start out, you always want to focus on the free methods. You get the traffic in for free, make some sales and then you can reinvest some of that money into paid methods of getting traffic. This speeds up the process.

Q. So what particular offline methods are you referring to - can you give us some examples?
A. There's one tactic I used that costs nothing to implement, is relatively quick and ended up getting me thousands and thousands of targeted visitors into my websites. When I've shared this tactic with other marketers at seminars they've started laughing and slapping their foreheads when they saw how easy it was. They were also embarrassed that they had failed to use this tactic. It was quite amusing.

Q. So are you going to tell us what this method is?
A. No! (laughs) It's in my course! I truly believe in rewarding those people that are most eager to learn so instead of giving away all my traffic tactics in interviews like this I've put some of them in an E-Book I've written. It is free though if people want to get it.

Q. So how can people get hold of it?

Q. What's in it?
A. Well I really wanted to raise the bar on a free E-Book so I spent a lot of time creating it. It's 40 pages long and stuffed with juicy content on what NOT to do when it comes to traffic. As far as I'm concerned too many people out there tell you what you should do but not what you shouldn't do. That's where this E-Book comes in.
